Studying in Nevada, USA

"I have had a wonderful experience in Reno, especially at TMCC. TMCC provides all the necessities in education and more, from classes and teachers with the best qualities for students to fully develop their skills and they are willing to help you whenever you need. Perhaps Nevada’s best known city is Las Vegas, famed for its gambling, nightlife and for being located in the middle of a desert.

Despite also being located in Nevada, Reno perhaps could not offer a more different lifestyle to Vegas. Reno remains Nevada’s third largest city, but is home to a quieter, greener, more community-oriented form of life.

Reno is safe, growing, and is surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains, lending the city easy access to great natural beauty. Moreover, the astounding Lake Tahoe is only 45-minutes away and San Francisco takes just a few hours in a car.

  • Lake Tahoe is 58km away (45 min drive)
  • San Francisco, 370 km (4hr drive)
  • Napa Valley, 325km (3hr drive)
  • Yosemite National Park, 410km (5hr drive)
  • Los Angeles, 784km (8hr drive)
  • Las Vegas, 735km (7hr drive)

For quick weekend trips, there are affordable buses to nearby cities like San Francisco or Sacramento for a quick weekend trip while there is great opportunity to explore the nearby states, including Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Arizona. The Reno-Tahoe International Airport is close to campus and makes multiple flights every day.

Truckee Meadows Community College itself has been awarded as one of the Most Scenic Community Colleges in the U.S., an exceptional achievement considering just how visually stunning the United States can be.
