If learning English in the United States is your goal, you have come to the right place!  For over 40 years, ILI has taught English to thousands of students from all around the world. We typically have around 270 students from over 50 countries.

ILI offers two locations: Dupont Circle in Washington, DC and Gaithersburg in Maryland. During your stay at ILI, we will take you to many of the famous attractions that Washington, DC has to offer.  At ILI, we are committed to providing you a positive learning experience and to assist you in reaching your academic and professional goals.

Programs

All of ILI’s programs are accredited.  ILI’s intensive program offers 12 levels, plus TOEFL and GRE test preparation classes.  The schedule is from 9 am until 2:10 pm, Monday through Friday. Each class is comprised of reading, writing, listening, speaking, and grammar. Most levels are four weeks long and the class sizes range from 5 to 15 students.

Tuition is $780 for four weeks. In addition, there is a $50 application fee and the cost of books, which range from $50-135 depending on the level. We have official start dates every four weeks, but students may start any week.  We are authorized to issue the I-20 form, which allows international students to apply for the F-1, student visa.  We also offer a Semi-Intensive program in the evening or on Saturdays. Tuition for this program is $260 for each 4-week period.

Student Services

After school Activities

ILI organizes student activities twice per week.  We take students on field trips to museums, famous monuments and buildings, parks, festivals, sport events, restaurants and historic neighborhoods. Some of our favorite student activities include going to one of the many great Smithsonian museums, the Capitol, the Pentagon, the National Zoo and Rock Creek Park for sports and picnics. All of these attractions are free and easily accessed

Academic Support

Our Foreign Student Advisor provides academic counseling for students planning to apply to U.S. colleges and universities. Students identify appropriate colleges, write personal statements, and gather and submit required documents to complete the application process.

Homestay

ILI's Homestay Program offers our F-1 visa students the opportunity to learn, first-hand, how Americans live and work. Often, the friendships which develop among students and their American host families last a lifetime. Homestay students live in comfortable houses in residential neighborhoods within normal commuting distance from ILI. Each host family has been carefully selected and interviewed by the Homestay Coordinator. All of our Homestay families live close to public transportation. A common commute door-to-door in the DC area takes between 30-75 minutes.
